Dear Readers,
Welcome to the first post of my blogging stint. This post is intended to all the fellow seafarers seeking information about procedure to get Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) for the purpose of getting to work on board vessels in Mumbai High Offshore Oilfield.
As you might be well aware of the bitter fact that job market for seafarers is down these days and the few job openings which are there, require one to hold valid PCC in hand, so that company can apply for ONGC pass for seafarers, before they get to join a vessel serving oilfields.
First of all you must be aware that there are two type of PCC one is issued by passport office and other by Commissioner of Police. and for offshore job purpose, it is the later one that companies are asking for. So you need to apply for PCC from Commissioner of police. In my case it was quite easy to apply, as my company advised me to do it online, for the obvious purpose of saving time, effort and money. For Delhi residents you can visit this link http://www.delhipolice.nic.in/ and can easily spot the section for PCC. Make sure you download and read user manual and frequently asked questions about PCC. It will help you in avoiding mistakes during process of filling form online. After going through instructions in manual and reading FAQ's, click on Register to create your user account on Delhi Police Website, which can be used for various things in future. Remember the password that you registered with, for future log in.
After successful registration log into your account using registered user email and password. Fill up the online form for PCC. Before submitting double check everything. Make any correction if you like and save changes. Then check again and finally submit it. then the payment option will be visible follow that with debit card option to use your ATM card for payment of approx Rs. 252. Receipt will be generated with an option to print. Click that to print or save receipt to keep with you. Log out. you will also receive acknowledgement of payment from Delhi Police in the inbox of your registered email.
You can easily track status of PCC application later by logging in again Log In. It will take 21 days for employment purpose, as it is in our case.
You can apply PCC online from anywhere in the world.
Most important thing to remember is to be present at your permanent residence for which you are applying PCC, on the day police official visit your address for verification. Keep ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS with you. They may ask your neighbours about you and may require written statement from 2 neighbours. After satisfactory and positive verification the verification officer from local police station will send report to commissioner's office, who will issue electronic PCC which can be downloaded by logging into your account or can be received on email. It is as authentic as hard copy. So you dont have to worry about getting hard copy. PCC will stay valid for 6 months from date of issue. On sign off next time do not forget to get letter requesting PCC from your company and as soon as you get home, apply online following the same method. In this way you can be assured that you will get it in time for your next joining and thus you can enjoy your vacation without worrying about PCC.
Thanks for your time reading it.
I am a newbie blogger so it was hard for me to type all of this, but I really wanted to share this info with you all as it might be of some help. Please leave your comments regarding anything you think was good or bad in this post. It will help me improve further.
Have a good time.
